Project, The First Hemispheric Conference on Indigenous
Education was held in Guatemala City from July 25 to 27,
2001. Practitioners, policymakers, researchers, and donors
from several countries convened for three days to exchange
experiences and best practices in the areas of teacher
training, curriculum and materials development and dissemination,
community participation, preschool preparation, and policy
as related to meeting the needs of indigenous peoples within
a multicultural, multilingual environment.
The BEPS team compiled
and produced conference proceedings and captured presentation
highlights for this historic
meeting.
